Our third ‘Inspiration Arbour’ is now on display at Rutland Garden Centre. Perfectly timed to capture the essence and inspiration of Cottage Gardens – the arbour is packed full of plants that are popular in this planting style.
Moving from the bright blooms of Children’s Gardening Week, the Inspiration Arbour has a beautiful rural softness – in it’s plant choice and colour scheme. Out go the brash and bold plants and in come some Cottage Garden favourites!
We’ve used Roses, Lavender, Foxgloves and Delphiniums, as well as Mock Orange – all plants suggested by the RHS as ‘cornerstones’ of a Cottage Garden. And many other plants have been squeezed in – to try to showcase the haphazard planting and abundance seen in Cottage Gardens! There’s Honeysuckle flanking the arbour, campanula, Lupins and Peonies.
The plants that stand out really are the roses – of course we couldn’t showcase rambling roses in full bloom rambling over the arbour (perhaps next year?!) – but we have standard roses on display, as well as offering a full selection of rambling roses to buy. The Honeysuckle, trained on trellises, will add instant ‘cottage garden’ impact to any garden or patio – and again – are available to buy and enjoy now and for many years ahead.
Indeed, all of the plants used are all in stock and can be bought – we’ve helpfully placed some of them in the bench next door to the arbour – but if you can’t find what you are looking for, just ask one of our experienced horticulturalists who are on hand. The planters, which have a great wood effect that fit the theme perfectly, are also available to purchase – in a variety of different sizes.
We are now busy planning our next arbour – so do come and visit Rutland Garden Centre before this stunning Cottage Garden disappears!
