Game, set & match: our Wimbledon Arbour!

Thursday 4th July 2019 at 21:08

With an array of purple plants, perfectly offset by freshly laid turf and wonderful white planters – it feels like Wimbledon has come to Rutland!

This iconic sporting event is always bedecked with flowers – both on and off court. They are also renowned for their grass court surface, and whilst ours is a little small to play tennis on, it does have its own turf, specially laid for the occasion! We have fresh turf delivered every week (on Thursdays) – so we thought this was a nice way to showcase this much-needed, but often unforgotten garden essential.

We’ve chosen a purple planting scheme – the colour of Wimbledon – with lots of Lavender, some Delphiniums, Campanula, Verbena and some Agapanthus too.  With just a splash of white too!

And, finally, what better way to celebrate this much-loved British sports event? With Strawberries of course! Wimbledon isn’t Wimbledon without Strawberries! So our #InspirationArbour has it’s own little patch of strawberry plants too!

Ps… Perhaps you can get keep the children occupied by counting the hidden (and not so hidden?!) tennis balls?

We hope you enjoy it & come along to the Garden Centre to see it for yourself – catch it before it’s ‘game over’!
