Our fifth ‘Inspiration Arbour’ is now on display at Rutland Garden Centre.
Following on from the very English celebration of Wimbledon, we’ve headed over the Channel to draw inspiration from yet another iconic sporting event!
The arbour is packed full of plants that follow a blue, white and red theme – in homage to the French flag!
Moving from the classical beauty of Wimbledon – with lots of lavender set off with freshly laid turf, the Tour de France Inspiration Arbour is a lot bolder and brasher!!
We’ve used blue Delphiniums, Agapanthus, Lavender and Hydrangeas. White is showcased by a lovely Lilly and yet more Delphiniums. Whilst the red has Dahlias as well as a red (ish!) Acer and Heucheras. We were thinking of using a single yellow plant (probably a rose) to symbolize the winner’s jersey. But it was just too jarring to add into the (already very bright) planting scheme!
All of the plants used are currently all in stock and can be bought if you feel so inspired! If you can’t find what you are looking for, just ask one of our experienced horticulturalists who are on hand. The different planters, which fit the theme brilliantly – in red, blue and in terracotta, are also available to purchase – in a variety of different sizes.
We are now busy planning our next arbour – so do come and visit Rutland Garden Centre before our Tour de France rendition cycles off into the sunset!
